Nine years ago, Christina went on holiday in the South of England with her family and her ten week old son Keelan who was a little under the weather. Prior to the holiday Christina had taken Keelan to the Dr who had confirmed it wasn’t anything too serious.
As part of their break the family visited a local butterfly farm and to their surprise a beautiful butterfly landed on Keelan’s head. A family friend, Deena Kearney (50) noticed and decided to take a picture to capture this moment. It was then Deena realised Keelan had stopped breathing and alerted a member of staff who immediately gave Keelan CPR. Keelan was taken to hospital in an ambulance and on arrival went into cardiac arrest and was resuscitated. Keelan was diagnosed with meningitis and whooping cough and stayed in hospital for two weeks before being transferred to a hospital close to his home.
Christina fundamentally believes this was a miracle. The whole episode took place whilst on holiday at the butterfly farm where the hospital was only five minutes away. Christina believes that if Keelan had fallen ill at home he wouldn’t have survived. Deena had decided by chance to join the family and if she hadn’t noticed the butterfly, they wouldn’t have realised Keelan had stopped breathing.
